The people of Egypt were the first civilians to believe in the afterlife. In the afterlife, they were believed to become gods. To make their second life comfortable for them, tombs were built in the shape of a pyramid and they were filled with all the things they need in their afterlife such as food, medicine, clothes, jewelry, etc.
The tombs were specifically constructed in the shape of a pyramid. The reasons are-
The shape represented the first land at the start of time- a hill called Ben-Ben.
The sides of a pyramid are sloping, so the dead pharaoh could easily climb up to the sky and live forever.
It represented the rays of the sun.
The archeologists after research, have come to the assumption that the Egyptians used the system of ramps 4500 years ago to build the pyramids. They also believe that the stone blocks were carried using a sled that was attached to wooden posts with the help of ropes and the alabaster blocks were pulled up from the quarry on steep slopes (had 20% slope or more).
Another set of researchers had found an unusual ramp carved in the ground. The ramp was very steep and was furnished with stairs on both sides. Holes at equal distances were marked on the stairs which could have contained wooden posts. One of the members who were part of the research noticed the pattern of the holes and concluded that it suggested some kind of pulley and rope system.
