Dreams

Dreams are stories and images that our minds create while we sleep. They can be entertaining, fun, romantic, disturbing, frightening, and sometimes bizarre. They are an enduring source of mystery for scientists and psychological doctors. Are dreams merely part of the sleep cycle, or do they serve some other purpose? Possible explanations include: • representing unconscious desires and wishes  • interpreting random signals from the brain and body during sleep. • consolidating and processing information gathered during the day. • working as a form of psychotherapy. Dreams are a universal human experience that can be described as a state of consciousness characterized by sensory, cognitive and emotional occurrences during sleep. The dreamer has reduced Trusted Source control over the content, visual images and activation of the memory.     There is no cognitive state Trusted Source that has been as extensively studied and yet as frequently misunderstood as dreaming. There are

Twitter May Soon Launch Facebook-Like Emoji Reactions for Tweets

Twitter is working on adding emoji reactions to tweets, similar to the ones available on Facebook, according to screenshots shared by reverse engineering expert Jane Manchun Wong. The microblogging site could include emoji reactions such as Likes, Cheer, Hmm, Sad, and Haha. The emoji reactions are currently under development, and some reactions in the screenshot, especially Cheer and Sad were shown to be using a placeholder Heart emoji. Reactions to posts are also available on other social media platforms like LinkedIn. The emojis look similar to the ones made available by Facebook on its platform. Twitter may also include Hmm (makes-you-think) and Cheer emoji reaction. Credits: BharaniDharan

Geyser

It is a spring characterized by an intermittent discharge of water ejected turbulently and accompanied by steam. In simple words, it is a hot spring that erupts under pressure.  There are tube-like holes deep in the earth's crust from which the geysers are made. The tube is filled with water. There is magma (molten rock) near the tube that heats the water. As the water begins to boil, some of the water gradually rises. The water turns into steam or gas which jets toward the surface. Its powerful jet of steam ejects the column of water above it. The water comes out of the tube and into the air. This is what we see as the water geyser. The eruption continues till the temperature inside the geyser drops below the boiling stage (100C or 212F). People Call this the sneezing of the earth because of the pressure with which the water comes out. Depending on the geyser size the eruption time and duration vary. If it is a small geyser the eruption is for only a few mi

Reason for different colours of Moon

Moon does not have its own light, it just reflects the sunlight. The moon that we are talking about, Earth’s moon is not a good reflector as compared to the other planets or moons as it reflects only around 13 per cent of the light that falls on it. We just see it brighter than other planets because of its closeness with the Earth. The colour that we see is just a result of the scattering of light (Rayleigh scattering), the same reason due to which the sky is blue. The scattering of reflected sunlight can result in different colours of the moon. The moon appears mostly yellow at night and white during daytime as we see from Earth. The yellow colour is seen since yellow light is one of less scattered light as the light travels through the atmospheric particles. The red colour though scattered least is not seen because yellow is relatively scattered more in proportion with greater abundance. During the day the moon appears white due to excess sunlight (white light) coming directly from t

Twitter Doesn't Shared Compliance Details With IT Ministry

Large social media companies like Google, Facebook, and WhatsApp have shared details with the IT Ministry as per requirement of the new digital rules, but Twitter is still not following the norms, government sources said. Twitter has not sent details of chief compliance officer to the IT Ministry, and shared details of a lawyer working in a law firm as nodal contact person and grievance officer, the sources said. Google, Facebook, WhatsApp, Koo, Sharechat, Telegram, and LinkedIn, have shared details with the ministry as per the requirement of the IT norms that came into effect earlier this week. Carbon steel

Carbon steel is a special type of steel that has a higher concentration of carbon than other types of steel. Most types of steel have a relatively low carbon content of about 0.05% to 0.3%. In comparison, carbon steel has a carbon content of up to 2.5%. Two-and-a-half per cent carbon may sound insignificant, but it introduces several attractive benefits that aren’t found elsewhere.    As the carbon percentage content rises, steel has the ability to become harder and stronger through heat treating; however, it becomes less ductile. Regardless of the heat treatment, a higher carbon content reduces weldability. In carbon steels, the higher carbon content lowers the melting point. Carbon Steel Advantages    There are several advantages to choosing carbon steel over traditional steel, one of which is increased strength. The use of carbon makes iron or steel stronger by shuffling around its crystal lattice. While carbon steel can still stress and break under pressure, it’s less l

Whispering Gallery

A whispering gallery is usually a circular, hemispherical, elliptical, or ellipsoidal enclosure, beneath a dome or a vault, in which whispers can be heard clearly in other parts of the gallery. There are two famous whispering galleries - Grand Central Terminal and St. Paul's Cathedral in London. In these two galleries, the faintest whispers can be heard clearly due to the geometry of the room. So, one should be careful about what they speak. It is called a whispering gallery because of the sound waves carried under them which are known as whispering gallery waves. These waves travel around the circumference, sticking to the walls. It works on the principle of how sound waves bounce around the inside of this curving section of hard wall. St.Paul's Cathedral in London was the first whispering gallery. Lord Rayleigh discovered whispering gallery waves for the first time in there. He experimented in the 1870s with a wedding ring and found that that the sound

WATER MADE MOON-EUROPA

Earth has one moon whereas Jupiter has 79 know moons, among them one of the moons is Europa. Europa or Jupiter ll was discovered by Galileo Galilei in 1610. This Europa is made of water and has a very thin atmosphere. Hubble space telescope detected water vapour plumes similar to those observed on Saturn’s moon Though Jupiter is so far from the sun and the temperature of Europa is -160 to-220 degree Celsius the Presence of water in Europa is surprising... Europa orbits Jupiter in oval shape and takes 3.5days to complete one revaluation. When Europa comes close to Jupiter it gets expanded due to the gravitation of Jupiter. Then it contracts while far away from Jupiter which produces heat in Europa. This is the process of heat development is called tidal flexing. So it contains water in its undersurface. The above surface contains float ice 15 to 25 km upside. Scientist predicting there must be the presence of water animals like aliens. The presence of water in Eu

Reason Behind Twinkling of Stars

Twinkling, also called scintillation, is a generic term for variations in apparent brightness, colour, or position of a distant luminous object viewed through a medium. If the object lies outside the Earth's atmosphere, as in the case of stars and planets, the phenomenon is termed astronomical scintillation; for objects within the atmosphere, the phenomenon is termed terrestrial scintillation. As one of the three principal factors governing astronomical seeing (the others being light pollution and cloud cover), atmospheric scintillation is defined as variations in illuminance only. In simple terms, the twinkling of stars is caused by the passing of light through different layers of a turbulent atmosphere. Most scintillation effects are caused by anomalous atmospheric refraction caused by small-scale fluctuations in air density usually related to temperature gradients. Scintillation effects are always much more pronounced near the horizon than near the zenith (directly o

Google Adds a New Button to Directly Save Images From Gmail to Google Photos

Gmail will now allow users to save photos sent as attachments directly to Google Photos with the new 'Save to Photos' button. However, the new feature is compatible only with pictures sent in the JPEG format for now and there is no information about when other formats will be supported by this new feature. Google removed the sync between Google Photos and Google Drive in 2019. Gmail users could earlier save any attachment directly to their Google Drive, which they can no longer use for saving photos and videos. The new feature reduces the need for users to download JPEG images and manually back them up on Google Photos. However, media in other image and video formats would still require to be manually uploaded to Google Photos for organising them in albums or backing them up on the cloud. Credits: BharaniDharan

Metal- TUNGSTEN

Tungsten is known as one of the toughest things found in nature. It is super dense and almost impossible to melt. Pure tungsten is a silver-white metal and when made into a fine powder can be combustible and can spontaneously ignite. Natural tungsten contains five stable isotopes and 21 other unstable isotopes. It is used in many different ways because it is very strong and durable. It is very resistant to corrosion and has the highest melting point and highest tensile strength of any element. Its strength comes when it is made into compounds, though. Pure tungsten is very soft. The first use of tungsten was more than 350 years ago. Chinese porcelain makers used a tungsten pigment that was a unique peach color. Most tungsten resources are found in China, South Korea, Bolivia, Great Britain, Russia and Portugal, as well as in California and Colorado. Though it is found in these many places, 80 per cent of the world’s supply is controlled by China. The element naturally occur

Finger Lime

It is an Australian fruit is a thorny shrub or small tree which is found in the lowland subtropical rainforest and rainforest in the coastal border region of Queensland and New South Wales, Australia. It is also called caviar lime due to the shape and feel of the small bubbles of citrusy juice. The bubbles of juice look like caviar, hence the name. Finger limes vary in size, shape, colour, and seediness. The fruit's skin color can range from yellow-green to crimson, purple, and black. Depending on the outside skin color the inside fruit color also changes. The fruit tastes tart and citrusy like a lemon or lime. It sometimes tastes like grapefruit because of the oils in the skin. There is a certain method that is used to cut a finger lime. The fruit should gently be cut lengthwise so that the caviar-Esque pearls do not get cut too. Slowly the caviar-Esque pearls should be taken out and used. The pearls can then be used to decorate cakes and cheesecakes, salad

Chemicals in Brain

Every reaction there involves a chemical even though in water(H2O). Let’s know about the chemicals released by the brain and their chemicals reactions to make us feel and express different kinds of emotions. There are some chemicals identified in our human body. They are, Serotonin  Dopamine  Glutamate Norepinephrine Serotonin You probably already know that serotonin plays a role in sleep and in depression, but this inhibitory chemical also plays a major role in many of your body’s essential functions, including appetite, arousal, and mood. Many antidepressants target serotonin receptors to improve your mood and lessen depressive symptoms. Interestingly, most of your serotonin is stored in the intestine, and this chemical may play a role in digestive functioning as well. Dopamine Dopamine controls many functions, including behaviour, emotion, and cognition. This chemical also communicates with the front part of your brain, which is associated with pleasure and r

Mining- Iridium

Iridium is a chemical element with a symbol of Ir. It is very hard and has a silvery-white colour being part of the platinum transition metal group. It is one of the rarest metals in the Earth's crust and the most corrosion-resistant metal (resistant to air, acid, water, and salts). This element is used as a hardening agent in platinum alloys. The alloy formed with osmium is used in tipping pens, and compass bearings. Iridium is mined as a by-product of nickel. In South Africa and Russia, the deposits are maximum. First, the metals- gold, silver, palladium, and platinum are removed from the ore. The residue is melted with sodium bisulfate to remove rhodium. The part containing iridium is melted with sodium peroxide, which leaves iridium oxide.  Then iridium oxide is dissolved in aqua regia and then evaporated to get the final product pure iridium. Pure iridium is not present in abundance in the earth's crust, but it is found a lot as natural alloys with

Apple logo

One of the static companies in the world is Apple. We have come across the apple iPhone, apple iPad, apple laptop and so on. When hearing this brand obviously we think high quality and expensive. Many asked Steve Jobs( who was founder of apple), Why do you named apple? Job’s said “I love to eat an apple and like apple” I thought the logo of apple also apple due to its name. When I searched the hidden mystery about the Apple logo. Initially, the logo of the apple is with Issac Newton sitting under the apple tree. As the Co-founders of apple wanted to represent the law of gravity. The first logo was created by Ronald Wayne in 1976. The frame of this logo contains the romantic English poet William Wordsworth’s quote  “Newton….a mind forever voyaging though strange seas of thoughts” Steve Job decided to explore something new for the logo, something different. He hired graphic designer Rob Janoff who created the present logo of the bitten apple in 1977. It was colour full with r

Defense - Silambam

Silambam martial art is one of the oldest self-defensive techniques in the World. Initially developed in the Indian subcontinent, Silambam incorporates various types of weapons and methods of movement training.  According to the Sangam literature, Silambam has been around since the 4th century BC. Throughout the years, it became the crucial part of King Puli Thevar soldiers Silambam to successfully put resistance against the British Army from 1760 to 1799. The first stages of Silambam practice are meant to provide a foundation for fighting, and also preparatory body conditioning. This includes improving flexibility, agility, and hand-eye coordination, kinesthetic awareness, balance, strength, speed, muscular and cardiovascular stamina.  Weapons used in silambam Silambam's main focus is on the bamboo staff. The length of the staff depends on the height of the practitioner. Ideally, it should just touch the forehead about three fingers from the head, typically measuring a

Construction- Stonehenge

Stonehenge is a monument on Salisbury Plain, England. The Neolithic built it 5000 years ago, about 3000BC. Approximately there are 100 massive stones placed in a circular pattern. This monument was believed to be used for burial and some scholars also say that it was used for functions, as a ceremonial site, a religious pilgrimage destination, or as a memorial in honour of a person. The Stonehenge was built before metals arrived and before the wheel was invented. A big hole was built with the help of antler tools and the inner circle and outer circle were marked using chalk piles. Inside the hole 56 timber or stone posts were placed in a ring shape. Two types of stones were used - larger sarsen stones and the smaller ‘bluestones’. Different stoneworks were used in the monument. Few of the rocks were very carefully finished, especially the northeast side and the inner faces of the central trilithons. Large holes with a slope on one side were dug to erect stones.
