5 Types Of Agriculture

Agriculture is the science, art, and practice of cultivating crops, livestock, and other renewable resources. It is widespread activities in the world. There are many classifications for agriculture. Some of the major criteria that can be adopted are Scale, Types of the crop, Livestock, Intensity, Means of distribution of farm produce and Level of mechanization. The major types of agriculture are Nomadic herding, Livestock Ranching, Shifting Cultivation, Intensive Subsistence Farming, Commercial PlantationsMediterranean Agriculture, Commercial Grain Farming etc.

Nomadic herding is based upon the rearing of animals on natural pastures. This practice is performed by the people of semi-arid and arid regions. These people stay on the move with their animals in search of natural pastures for their livestock to graze. The type of animals reared differs from one region to the other.

•Livestock ranching is laid on rearing animals. Unlike nomadic herding, the farmers live a settled life. This type of farming has developed on a commercial basis in areas of the world where large plots of land are available for animal grazing, such as the low rainfall areas.

•shifting cultivation farming is most often adopted in the tropics. Under this system, the land is obtained by clearing forest areas using a slash and burn technique. The land is then cultivated for a few years, or until the fertility declines or the land is overtaken by the weeds and other native flora.
•Livestock and grain Farming is commonly known as mixed farming, and originated in the humid areas of the middle latitudes, except Asia. Its development is closely related to the market facilities, and it is a typically European type of farming. Great Britain and New Zealand are examples of areas where this type of farming is common practice.

•Dairyfarming also had its origin in Europe, from where it spread to other areas. Close proximity to the market and a temperate climate are the two favourable factors that have been responsible for the development of this type of farming. Countries like Denmark and Sweden have witnessed the maximum development of this type of farming.

There are five oceans namely Artic ocean, Atlantic Ocean, Pacific Ocean, Indian ocean and Antarctic ocean . All the oceans are different in their physical and biological character called ocean clines. When we look at the Atlantic and Pacific Ocean junction, they do not mix. Is there any invisible Wall in between them? Many scientists have conducted research to solve this mystery. The Atlantic and Pacific Ocean have different chemical composition. The salinity of the water in the Atlantic Ocean is five times more than the Pacific Ocean. The density of water is also different, so even marine animals in Atlantic Ocean will not go to the Pacific Ocean. They cannot survive in other oceans. Atlantic and Pacific Ocean meet at Cape Horn. The narrow straight line formed by the water bodies is called Drake Strait. The Pacific Ocean is ...
