Eucalyptus deglupta is a species of tall tree , commonly known as the rainbow eucalyptus, Mindanao gum or rainbow gum that is native to the Philippines, Indonesia, and Papua New Guinea.
The rainbow eucalyptus has tapering leaves that are over 6 inches long and 4 inches wide . When caused, the leaves give off a mild, aromatic smell. The tree also has small white flowers which bloom at different times during the year , depending on the location .
It’s flowers are alternatively known as Mindanao gum, the rainbow eucalyptus grows fast more than three feet per year and can reach heights of more than 240 feet . It’s small white flower are packed with nectar , making it a good source for honey.
Aside from climate, rainbow eucalyptus growing conditions include full sun and moist soil. The tree grows 3 feet per season without supplemental fertilizer , although it needs regular watering when rainfall is insufficient. The most outstanding feature of rainbow eucalyptus tree is its bark.
The rainbow eucalyptus may live from 50 to 150 years and to be deer resistant.
