The Leaning Tower of Pisa or Tower of Pisa is a tower in the city of Pisa in Italy. It was built to serve as the complex's bell tower.
The tower is fully built using white marble and the base walls are 13 feet thick. It is an eight-story tower and is 179 feet high. There is a staircase that goes all the way to the top and consists of 300 steps. The whole tower leans by sixteen and a half feet.
When the Leaning Tower of Pisa was going to build, it was not supposed to lean. The word 'Pisa' means 'marshy land' in Greek. So, the city of Pisa has a marshy and sandy surface. The foundation of the land was laid on the marshy and sandy land, so after three storeys were built the tower started to lean. Due to this, the construction plan was changed, and the rest of the tower was built in a leaning position. The original height of the tower was supposed to be 60 meters of 196.85 feet. As the tower is leaning, the height of it is 56.67 meters or 186 feet on the highest side and 55.86 meters or 183 feet on the lowest side.
