Almost everyone is attracted to people with dimples. It is estimated that only 20% of the population are born with dimples, so that leaves the rest of us with the desire to have them too.
Dimples on cheeks have a proper name in the dictionary. Gelasin is the word. It was derived from the Greek word ‘Gelaein’ which means “to laugh” because dimples specifically form on the cheeks when one smiles.
These beautiful and cute-looking dimples appear because of Genetic Deformity. But it’s quite normal. Not only in the cheeks, but dimples can occur anywhere in the body.
People with Dimples are told they look younger than their age.
Dimples definitely signify fitness and youth. Have you ever noticed babies have temporary dimples? No doubt they are the cutest. It is because babies have too much fat in their cheeks.
It is highly possible if your parents have dimples you might get them. But sometimes it has been seen among various people, to inherit this common abnormality from their grandparents. While their parents don’t have any Dimples.
Dimples may appear and disappear over an extended period. Dimples are usually located on mobile tissues, and are possibly caused by variations in the structure of the facial muscle known as zygomaticus major. Specifically, the presence of a double or bifid zygomaticus major muscle may explain the formation of cheek dimples.
